I have to say, it was an easy decision giving up meat, I’ve never really liked it, eating it grossed me out, I was always super fussy about which bits I ate, and would dissect fillets to remove any veiny, yucky stuff, sausages and burgers – anything minced up and squished back together, yuk! No thanks.
I decided about 10 years ago to just go veggie full time, and I’ve never looked back. I’m the only veggie in my house , but it doesn’t complicate things too much. I just always make a vegetarian version of whatever we have planned for everyone else. I’ve mastered some delicious recipes, veg shepherd’s pie, chilli, curries, veg lasagne, soups, pies, you name it, I’ve tried it. I’ve made a mess of some recipes! But I’ll be sure to share the ones I’ve perfected, or found on the Internet or out of one of my many recipe books – giving credit to chefs where due.
I still love a right good roast, it’s actually my most favourite meal of the week! When I first became veggie, I felt frustrated that I couldn’t seem to find many places to have a roast dinner from. Folk couldn’t fathom that a veggie could still enjoy a proper good sunday dinner. Nowadays, loads of places offer meat free or plant based alternatives.
Anyway, keep tuned. Hopefully, I can provide a bit of inspiration as my blog grows x
